Duo Calla is...
Two talented young musicians who also happen to be best friends. One of their favorite pastimes is making music together.
Rachel
Rachel has been playing the piano for eighteen years, and has been a church pianist for twelve years. She has a degree in Piano Pedagogy from Cedarville University, and runs her own private piano studio. She has extensive experience accompanying choirs and individuals for concerts, Solo & Ensemble performances, as well as solo vocal, violin, and horn recitals. Her senior college recital included pieces such as Mozart's Concerto No. 24 in C Minor and Ravel's Jeu D'Eaux. She has played in a number of weddings, and her favorite part is the hushed anticipation right before the bride walks in. When she is not teaching or practicing, she loves creating beauty in all forms, including art, crafts and poetry.
Sylvia
Sylvia's musical journey has taken her into diverse musical involvement throughout her life. Her many years of violin playing include five years as a member of the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra (the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's premier training ensemble), membership in various chamber ensembles, and church involvement both in service playing and special music. She played in Moody Bible Institute's annual production of Handel's Messiah, served as first violin in a string quartet accompanying Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, and led a violin duet for Moody Chorale concerts during their 2012 Spring Tour to the Rocky Mountain States. When she is not making or listening to music, she enjoys writing, knitting, and spending time outdoors.
